The festivities including a fun walk/run, parade, reading of the proclamation, song and dance, food scramble, food booths, and vendor booths with community members, dignitaries, leaders and Navajo Nation Programs. Most excitingly, the Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez signed the Summer Youth Employment Legislation during the event. The first to ever happen in Mariano Lake. Legislation 0121-19 an action relating to Budget And Finance, Resources and Development, NAABIK’IYATI’, and Navajo Nation Council;  approving supplemental funding from the Unreserved, Undesignated Fund Balance  of $ million for the 110 Navajo Nation Chapter’s Summer Youth Employment.

  • A semitrailer caught fire on Interstate Highway 40 just west of the Wingate Exit at about 1:30 a.m. Monday. Vehicles were being diverted to the frontage road so they could continue into Gallup. Once the fire was extinguished, traffic resumed and the semitrailer had been gutted — witnesses said the walls of the trailer were still up, but the interior looked empty and totall gutted by the fire.
